Summer Healthy Eating

May means here comes summer! Your students will be heading off to summer activities of outdoor play; swimming, running, baseball, tennis, and just generally being active. What better way to prepare them for summer than getting them excited about eating healthy. Start by celebrating School Lunch Hero Day in May and learning about the benefits of balanced meals with this Eating Healthy Fact Booklet. With fun facts and creative drawing kids can share their learning with your kitchen staff.

Continue the fun of eating healthy with food specific fact booklets about carrots, potatoes, and more. Students will go home with fun knowledge to quiz their family. What was the first vegetable in space? How long was the longest carrot? Booklets inspire continued learning with a research form and worksheet, creativity with an art project, and reading with fun facts.

May Reading!

Learning through books blooms a love for reading and as teachers, we pray that each and everyone of our students develops this love. The holidays of May -  Mothers Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Memorial Day, be especially emphasized through these uncertain times. We will celebrate the mothers who have continued loving us through becoming teachers, daycare providers, and full time moms.  We will also remember and honor military loved ones who sacrificed their lives for us in the midst of uncertain times when many military families are sending loved ones to assist in the fight against the coronavirus.

My favorite picture books are appropriate for all ages; however, the following are appropriate for K-2 readers. I hope your May reading brings love, appreciation, and remembrance to your students’  hearts.

Enjoy all that May will bring!

2020 May Resources

Welcome to May! As many of us are saddened by the realization we will finish the school year with distance learning, we are looking for ways to teach our students in a fun manner parents can easily understand. May provides many holiday events to brighten our days and teach our students such as Cinco De Mayo, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day. Here are products timed for May and appropriate for distance learning.

Have a great time learning about Cinco de Mayo. Celebrate this Mexican holiday by exploring the history behind the celebrations. This fact booklet comes with engaging art and writing activities.
Celebrate Cinco de May with these color by code puzzles that are perfect for distance learning. With these Cinco De Mayo puzzles your students will enjoy math, sight words and coloring while at the same time as they review Common Core Standards.

Looking for an adorable project to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Learning how to draw is a great activity to boost self-confidence and the finished drawing makes a great gift or classroom display.

Invite your students to reflect and learn about the Mother’s Day tradition. The fact booklet is perfect to use to support students to read and write about ways to celebrate their moms, grandmothers, or important mother figures in their lives.

Your students will love reading about Memorial Day using this fact booklet. This resource contains unique craftivities to help the students remember and understand what this day is about.
