Chew on this!

Do you remember the joy of going to the convenient store down the street with pennies in your pocket to buy a piece of bubblegum? Or putting your coin in the big gumball machine and waiting for a gumball to roll down into your hands? Well, you can bring these fond memories to your students with some great books, activities and games!

“Bubble gum, bubble gum in a dish, how many pieces do you wish?” This was a fun jump rope game we used to do that can easily be adapted to a counting/number game in the classroom.

Drawings of gumball machines are another activity that can be adapted to a variety of skills you are working on in the classroom.

How about having your students draw a picture of themselves and insert a pink balloon (or pink tissue paper) in the mouth as a bubble gum bubble!

You can talk about spheres and use the gumball as a type of sphere you can chew.

Who knew there was so much to do using bubble gum as a theme?!

We hope these activities and suggestions give you just the “pop” you need for a fun week of bubble gum!
