Where in the World is Christopher Columbus?

In honor of Columbus Day, we are giving you a snapshot look at the largest cathedral in the world, the Seville Cathedral, located in Seville, Spain. Seville is a beautiful city with many sights along cobblestoned streets with the cathedral being one of its biggest attractions.

In this cathedral is the tomb/monument that houses the remains of Christopher Columbus. Thanks to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain, Christopher Columbus is one of our most famous historical figures. He is also well known in other countries too. It is usually packed around his monument!

Why Christopher Columbus? Why he helped to discover the Americas of course! Elementary school children are fascinated about this explorer who traveled across the ocean looking for riches and ended up discovering the New World. We love the many activities that are available to help young children understand this concept and get their “explorer” on. So take a voyage with your students and Christopher Columbus this week, traveling from Spain and across the ocean to discover the New World!
