Women's History Month

Eleanor Roosevelt, Oprah Winfrey, Amelia Earhart, Sojourner Truth, Greta Thunberg, Mala Yousafzai, and most recently Kamala Harris are just a few among many women celebrated for their dedication to making a change in society for the betterment of everyone. To learn of Kamala Harris’ journey of making many significant contributions throughout her life in public service and now become the first woman Vice President of the United States, it is merely impossible to not be inspired.

Teaching of the accomplishments of women despite their many adversities opens the eyes of young generations of girls to possibilities, ideas, and new expectations. We can and should use our histories to inspire children to make changes to fight for a better world.

March Reading!

Favorite Women’s History Month Books:

With so much happening around the world I totally forgot to share my favorite March reading!  They are not only appropriate for the classroom but you can read them at home where all your kids can enjoy!  I chose books about strong women in honor of Women’s History Month. Reading about these women who have shaped our history, will help students develop and reflect on the importance of never giving up, taking risks and that it’s ok to make mistakes and learn from them! These books are age appropriate for K-2 Level  however, we know we can use picture books for all levels!
